November 1. —Mr. Washington seems to be playing the royal game of goose with Messrs. Clinton and Knyphausen, when by a single shifting of his position, he can oblige them to begin the game afresh. These generals had therefore better take great care how they attempt trapping this old fox, lest they themselves might fall into the same trap.1
