Rosh Hashanah was a day late this month. Our congregation’s calendar showed the first day of Tishrei beginning at sundown yesterday. Unfortunately, the new month can’t start until the new moon is sighted. Since Rosh Hashanah is the first day of Tishrei, you can never tell for sure what day or hour it is coming until it is actually here. You can know the season, even within two days, but you can’t know exactly. Every other Biblical holy day can be planned and counted on, but not this one.
Sound familiar?
Rosh Hashanah is also the traditional day for the coronation of kings. There is a king coming to be coronated at Jerusalem someday. He told us to expect him and, although no man knows the exact day or hour, he gave us signs to watch for so that we will know the season of his return.
