In fact, if one really wants to end terrorism in the West (as it is doubtful or hardly desired that we end it in the Middle East) then all of the [neocon strategies] are the wrong approaches. As real conservatives have been saying for years, if we do want to end terrorism in the West, we should do the following. (1) completely withdraw from and close all military bases in the Middle East (2) give no aid to any Middle Eastern country (including Israel) (3) seal our borders (4) end all immigration (legal and illegal) from the Third World and (5) deport all Muslims from the West (from the USA, Europe, etc.).
My opinion for today…
Border Control
Barring someone from the country because of their religion sets a very bad precedence. Apart from being illegal by making a law regarding an establishment of religion, what happens in fifty or sixty years when public opinion swings against Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, or Catholics?
Whether it is possible or not is a secondary consideration IMO, but still important. People are obviously not guns, and I agree that the comparison is weak. It is much easier to search for people than to search for guns or drugs. However, no border controls will keep out a determined, intelligent, and well-financed terrorist, which are the only kind we need to worry about. As Buddy pointed out, they will either sneak across the many, many thousands of miles of border, using much better techniques than would a migrant worker, or else they will come in under false pretenses: to visit Disneyland or a Benny Hinn crusade, for instance. (But I repeat myself… LOL!) Once in, they can manufacture any weapons they want. Either way, all the trillions spent to keep them out are worthless.
Deportation
Should we deport only those who admit to being Muslims or also those who claim to be Christians, Jews, atheists, or what-have-you? What about Muslims from Canada, England, and France? What about Muslims from our own country? Should we just make it illegal to be a Muslim? In forty years maybe someone will also make it illegal to be a Jehovah’s Witness or a Mormon or whatever other sect doesn’t have quite the right doctrine.
I think it would be so much more effective to deport all Democrat, Socialist, Communist, and Green Party members. Republicans will get a probationary period in which they will swear to keep their hands out of everyone else’s pockets and their minds off of everyone else’s business. Only Libertarian and Constitution Party members and any non party-affiliated people will be allowed to vote for the first 12 years. Cool
I am all for deporting (or executing or enslaving) foreign law-breakers. I’d also like to get rid of 99% of the public welfare programs out there, starting with benefits to foreigners. Follow that with the War on Drugs. Those three actions would make patroling our borders much easier–maybe unnecessary–because no undesirable people would be trying to cross them.
Foreign Affairs
I agree with cutting off foreign aid to Israel as well as to all other countries, no matter their location. Then give me a big fat tax refund! 
I’d like to treat Israel just as I believe the states of our own republic should be treated: No trade restrictions, no tarrifs, no federal funding or interference, and completely free migration. Trust me, they are far more capable of watching their borders than we are of watching ours.
