“Alzheimers patients are diagnosed younger all the time. The challenges they face at ten!”

Wow! Alzheimers at ten years of age? That’s awful! LOL!

Virtual Machines Losing Network

Friday, March 7th, 2008

After building more than 200 Windows XP virtual machines in VMWare’s Virtual Infrastructure 3, they began losing their network connections. There was no problem with the network configurations on the individual VMs or on the physical network, but something kept disabling network adapters. The fix was to go into the properties on each of the virtual switch port groups on the ESX servers and set the Notify Switches option to “Yes.” It was already set globally, but for some unknown reason, I haven’t had a single VM drop off after setting that value on the individual virtual switches.

Notify Switches

Update 03/10/2008: Scratch that. This seems to have helped, but not completely resolved the issue. I had four more VMs lose their nic’s today.

Update 03/18/2008: On the 10th, I set the Failback option on each of the port groups. I haven’t had any failed network connections since then. Fingers crossed.

P’kudei 5768 – Colors

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I’ve been wondering about the meaning of the colors used in the tabernacle. I think I am beginning to see a pattern in my reading.

  • White: Purity, honesty, wholeness, and holiness
  • Red: Blood, corporeality, sensuality, earth, the body, and woman
  • Blue: Heaven, spirituality, torah, priesthood, the spirit, and man
  • Purple: Royalty, relationship, Messiah, union of divine and mundane, the soul, and the firstborn

Are You a Boy or Are You Just Stupid?

ScienceDaily published an article about a study that confirms what we all already know: boys and girls are different. Their bodies function differently, and their brains function differently. That’s by design. Only people who can’t differentiate between fantasy and reality actually believe that all such differences are caused by socialization. Yet, ScienceDaily sounds quite surprised. Their article (and the researcher it quotes) still manages to make it sound as if boys are brain damaged because they learn differently than girls. Talk about brain damaged.
