Shutter Island

Shutter Island is a great movie if you can overlook the language and nudity. It’s also one of the most profoundly disturbing films I’ve seen in a long time, and I don’t know if I would ever want to watch it again. Put it on the shelf next to Life is Beautiful.

Very good movie. The missus and I were sufficiently wigged out at the end because of a disturbing voice mail message from a 7 year old on our phones. Had us thinking it was part of the movie as everyone was checking theirs.

OT, amazing stuff over on Vox Popoli today. You were really cranking out the info there and making some pretty decent arguments.

What was the voice mail about?

Thanks! I was having fun, too. It’s a topic I’ve put a lot of thought and research into, and I needed the distraction.

It was a cryptic (unintelligible) message about inviting my son over to a birthday party. The way he left it and the timing (right at the end of the movie) had all of us thinking it was some ingenious plot device. (Question our sanity?) Needless to say it made the experience all that more enjoyable.
